About Me

Hi, and thanks for being here!

My name is Anna and I finished my Ph.D. at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York in December of 2020. My field of study was chemistry and chemical biology with a specialization in polymer physics. I received my bachelor's degrees in biochemistry and chemistry from Mount St. Mary's University in Emmitsburg, Maryland in 2016 and immediately began my Ph.D. journey at the ripe old age of 22. Immediately following graduation from graduate school, I switched career fields from wet lab work to intellectual property law. I am currently employed by a BigLaw firm in their Silicon Valley office and I cooperate with and learn from patent attorneys in the life sciences so I can be one someday, too! I'm excited to say my firm is paying my way through law school, beginning August 2021. I currently live in San Francisco with my boyfriend Max, my Shiba Inu Senketsu, and my leopard gecko Bean.

I originally began this blog not only as an outlet for my thoughts during my Ph.D., but also to discuss the many aspects of life as an academic. Since graduating, I want it to continue to serve as a repository for my thoughts and hobbies, but also to explore this massive change in career I am currently pursuing.

Honestly, I'd also love to springboard myself into real blogging. Writing about non-scientific topics is something I don't get to do often, and this is the perfect place to get back into it. I'm especially getting into beauty and skincare lately, and would love to use this as a platform to review and discuss my favorite products and experiences. Plus, I'd love to provide a platform for friends and family scattered across the country and globe to keep up with the goings-on in my life!

Please enjoy and feel free to reach out if you'd like to talk. Thanks!
